International Foundation Programme – 대학예비과정
영국의 대학을 입학하고자 하는 학생들 중에서 영국의 고등학교 과정(A-Level) 또는 이와 동등한 교육 과정을 이수하지 않은 외국 학생을 위한 교육 과정으로 뉴카슬 대학 또는 영국 내의 명문 대학으로 진학을 보장하는 과정입니다.
1. 입학대상
– 한국에서 고등학교 또는 이와 동등한 교육 과정을 이수한 학생
– 영국 이외의 국가에서 고등학교 교육 과정을 이수한 학생
– 한국등 영국 이외의 지역에서 대학을 다니거나 다녔던 학생 중에서 전공을 바꾸어서 영국 대학으로 진학을 원하는 학생
2. 입학조건
– 12년 이상(고등학교 졸업 학력) 또는 이와 동등한 교육 과정을 이수한 학생
– 4학기 과정 : IELTS 5.0 (네 분야 모두 4.5 이상) 또는 이와 동등한 성적
– 3학기 과정 : IELTS 5.5 이고 (네 분야 모두 5.0 이상) 또는 이와 동등한 성적
* Newcastle Law School 로 진학 희망을 원하는 학생인 경우에 적용되는 영어 성적
– 4학기 과정 : IELTS 5.5(네 분야 모두5.0 이상) 또는 이와 동등한 성적
– 3학기 과정 : IELTS 6.0(네 분야 모두5.5 이상) 또는 이와 동등한 성적
* Architecture Foundation 과정을 지원하는 경우에 요구되어지는 포트폴리오
– A3 또는 A4 사이즈 8 ~ 10 개의 포트폴리오 – 최소 5개는 빌딩, 주택, 조경등이 포함되어야 함
– 최소 한개의 정확한 축적에 맞게 방 스케치 필요 – 문, 창문, 가구등이 포함되어야 함
– 300 ~500 자 정도의 지원자가 좋아 하는 좋아하는 빌딩에 대한 설명서
3. 지원서류

– 여권 사본
– 포트폴리오 – Architecture Foundation 지원자
4. 선택과정 및 진학 가능학과 : 아래는 샘플이며 대다수의 학과로 진학 가능함
1) Foundation pathway in Architecture
– Architectural Studies, Town Planning
2) Foundation pathway in Business and Management
– Accounting and Finance, Business, Law, Management, Marketing, Economics 등올 선택 가능함
3) Foundation pathway in Humanities and Social Sciences
– Geography, Politics, Sociology, Law, Media, Communication and Cultural Studies, Town Planning 등을 선택 가능함
4) Foundation pathway in Physical Sciences and Engineering
– Chemical engineering, Civil engineering, Electronic and Electrical engineering, Computer science, Mechanical engineering, Marinetechnology, Mathematics, naval architecture, statistics,Suveying and mapping science 등을 선택 가능함
5) Foundation pathway in Biological and Biomedical Sciences
– Agriculture,Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Genetics,Environmental Sciences,Food and Human nutrition, Marine biology, Phamacology,Physiological sciences, Psychology, Zoology등을 선택 가능함
5. 학업내용
선택한 과정에 따라서 필수 및 선택 과목이 달라짐, 진학하고자 하는 학과에 맞추어서 선택 과목을 선택하며 전체 120 Credits 을 이수해야 함
아래는 샘플일 뿐이며 선택한 학과등에 따라서 학업 내용은 달라질 수 있음
1) Common Modules
– English for Academic Purposes (20 or 40 credits)
– Study Skills and Project (30 credits)
– Introduction to British Institutions and Culture (10 credits)
2) Specialist Modules : 아래의 내용은 샘플이며 과정에 따라서 선택 달라질 수 있음
– 선택 가능한 과목들 : Introduction to Business (20 credits), Economics (20 credits), Society and Culture (20 credits), Introduction to Accounting (20 credits), Applied Computing for Business (20 credits), International and Development Studies (20 credits), Law (20 credits), Foundation Biology (15 credits), Foundation Chemistry (15 credits), Foundation Physics (15 credits), Mathematics for Science and Computing (15 credits), Advanced Mathematics (10), Mathematics for Science and Computing (15 credits)
